Translation
ComTra Inc. offers translation services from French to English
and from English to French. Our translators produce idiomatic texts
targeted to the audience within assigned timeframes.
All texts translated at ComTra Inc. are also revised by someone
other than the translator, no matter how experienced he or she may be.
The final step is always quality
control.

Revision/Editing
ComTra Inc. offers both standard and comparative revision and editing.
In standard revision, a text is revised to correct any errors in grammar,
spelling, syntax, and punctuation. It also involves improving style
and clarity and making the text more idiomatic. In this case, the text
is not compared to another version in another language.
Comparative revision, on the other hand, consists of comparing the
translated text to its source text to make sure the message has been
properly conveyed and nothing has been added or omitted. With this type
of revision, errors in grammar, spelling, syntax, and punctuation are
also corrected.

Proofreading
Proofreading involves rereading printed documents that have been laid
out to ensure no typographical or layout errors like incorrect hyphenation
or incoherent pagination slip by. No changes are made to either syntax
or style when a document is proofread.

Localization
Localization refers to the process of adapting hypermedia content, Web
pages, software, and technical documentation to a specific language
and culture. More than a simple translation, localization requires technical
and specialized knowledge as well as language expertise in order to
communicate all the characteristics of a product in the language and
context of a given culture. With this approach, the client is handed
a final, ready-to-use version. For example, it may be a matter of simply
replacing English URLs with the URLS for the corresponding French pages.

Asked Questions or visit the Web site of the Localization
Industry Standards Association.
